In an effort to divert food waste, as well as support marginalized Vancouverites in need of a hot meal, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s Executive Chef David Baarschers has teamed up with A Better Life Foundation. Events and banquets that take place at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver occasionally produce excess food that doesn’t make it out of the kitchens and to the table. This food that would otherwise go to waste, is now being cooled, packaged and frozen for delivery to A Better Life Foundation’s prep kitchen located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. A Better Life Foundation uses donated food to produce over 1,300+ hot meals daily for those in need in our community.
